Filipinos and foreign nationals often go to Aklan to visit the famous island of Boracay. I can't blame them because in the whole country (Philippines) it has the finest white sand, stunning sunset, crystal clear water and a very festive night life. On the other hand, Hinugtan Beach has fine golden sand, stunning sunset, crystal clear water and most of all, one of the most peaceful beaches I've ever been.
Hinugtan Beach is a secluded beach near Boracay. For me, the beach looks more magnificent with the gigantic villa's made of dried coconut leaves and of course there are plenty of coconuts in the area. I can say that the beach is not yet commercialized unlike the nearby beaches. It is perfect for those who want's to have the island on their own. Aside from two foreign nationals, most of the people I encountered in the island we're the locals so basically we almost own the beach.
The signal is strong within the island so it's perfect for those who wants to post their at the moment photos on social media. Just don't forget to gear up upon going to the island you should bring your snorkeling gears (which I forgot to bring), ready your bikinis and beach pose because I'm sure you'll gonna enjoy taking photos while on the island.
Going to the island will cost you time especially if you'll be coming from Ilo-ilo but if you're from Caticlan or Kalibo it won't cost you too much time to get to Hinugtan. From Iloilo all you need is ride a Ceres bus bound to Kalibo (roughly 4 hours of travel - 120 Php); from there ride a van bound to Kalibo, from there you can ride a van bound to Buruanga (60 Php) and tell the driver to drop you at Brgy. Bel-is. From the drop off area you can talk to the bankero's to bring you to the island, the boat rental is around 700 Php and that is round trip already. Others may choose to hike to reach the beach and it will cost you 45 minutes to get there. When going back to Caticlan Jetty Port you can hail a habal-habal for only 250 Php.
You can bring your own food but there are resorts on the area and they also serve delicious food for cheap prices. DO NOT FORGET to bring cash (no ATM available) in the island. Hinugtan beach is really a place must visit if you're a traveler who doesn't like loud music and just to connect with nature. Just remember the LNT principle upon visiting to preserve the area .
Have you visited the Hinugtan Beach? I'm happy if you'll share your experience with me. Feel free to message me.
